About Us

Devon Street Tattoo is an independent, locally owned tattoo shop in the heart of New Plymouth.

We’re an old-school tattoo shop at heart. Good tattoos, experienced tattooists, plenty of stories, and a shop you can actually feel comfortable walking into.

Our artists work independently, each managing their own clients and bringing their own experience, style and way of doing things to the shop. Between them there are years of tattooing behind these walls, from small walk-ins and classic flash to large-scale custom work, cover-ups and pieces that have been planned for months.

We love the traditions that tattooing was built on. Drawing by hand, walls covered in flash, talking ideas through properly, and making tattoos that are designed to still look like good tattoos years down the track.

But old-school doesn’t mean unwelcoming.

Whether it’s your first tattoo and you’re nervous as hell, or you’ve spent half your life in tattoo shops, you’re welcome here. Ask questions, bring a mate, have a lolly, take a break when you need one and have a yarn with us.

We’re not trying to be a polished, silent studio where you’re scared to touch anything.

It’s a tattoo shop.

Alongside tattooing, you’ll find original artwork, flash, small-run Devon Street Tattoo merch, gift vouchers and other bits and pieces from the shop.

We’re proud to be a small local business, proud to tattoo in Taranaki, and grateful for the people who continue to walk through our doors and trust our artists with their skin.
