Asher Herman

Asher has been tattooing for over 15 years and still works alongside the man who taught him, Jody Ward - now 39 years into tattooing himself.

With a love for American traditional, bold flash and the old ways of doing things, Asher created Devon Street Tattoo with the tattoo shops he came up around in mind. Walk-ins, flash on the walls, proper conversations, fair prices and good tattoos without all the carry-on.

Asher is deeply versed in the world and history of tattooing. He has a wealth of knowledge about the tattooists who came before him, old flash designs and where they originated, along with an incredible collection of books preserving artwork and flash that could otherwise easily be forgotten. He’s a firm believer in being able to draw with your own two hands, and those same hands can turn just about anything into a strong tattoo. He loves designs that look like tattoos from across the room and will still look like tattoos years down the track.

He’ll tell you honestly if he thinks something will work, and if he thinks it won’t. Above everything, he wants the person in his chair to leave genuinely happy. He has very little time for the modern idea that a palm-sized tattoo should require taking out a small loan.

Outside the shop, Asher is a husband and hands-on dad of three, a talented chopper builder and a serious music lover with a ridiculous amount of knowledge tucked away. If he’s not tattooing or drawing, he’s probably building something, making music, or disappearing down a rabbit hole about something you didn’t know was interesting until he started talking about it.
